Event Description
Saguaro Lake offers some very magestic views while bilateral breathing! Huge cliff walls and a tight venue for hanging out under shaded ramada's. Come warm up for the Fall triathlons at Saguaro Lake with us!
Water Quality & Temperature will be posted race week; however in October, the tempertures are typically in the high 70's to low 80's
The quick details:
- 1000m loop course
- 4000m swim is first, so if you are swimming the 1K or 2K you don't need to show up until 30 minutes before the swim
- We have stairs for the swim exit!
4000, 2000 or 1000 meter open water swim distances OR combine them all for 7,000 meters.

Course Description
The venue is located at Key Hole Recreation area at the Saguaro Lake Marina. You will be shuttled to the venue from Water Users Parking lot, just west of the Stewart Mountain Dam road. There is NO PARKING at the venue, so please plan accordingly. Shuttles will be running all event to get you to and from your vehicle. The access to the water is a brand new dock at the far east end of the Key Hole.
The course for this event will be a 1000m loop course. The counter-clockwise course will be marked with large tetrahedron shaped buoy’s and both the Start and Finish will be in water. the 4000m swim will swim 4 laps, 2000m, 2 laps.!

Come on out early to each of our swims and listen to the dulcit tones of Pam Kallio of Tri K2 Kallio Koaching! Pam will be offering in-depth deck talks as well as practical skills clinics before each of the open water swim events. In addition to these great face-to-face clinics, Pam posts awesome tips for training each week on the DCB Facebook page... Heck, it's FREE... what do you have to lose? Maybe some time off your swim? That just may be worth getting to the event a little early, right?
Divisions & Awards
Theere are four Divisions for the 2011 Arizona Open Water Swim Series:
- 1000m wetsuit and non-wetsuit
- 2000m wetsuit and non-wetsuit
- 4000m wetsuit and non-wetsuit
This year you will be given one opportunity to drop a swim... top 4 swims count for the overall awards; must do 4 out of the 5 events to qualify for awards. Prizes will also be given to the top 3 men and women (wetsuit & non-wetsuit) with the most distance this year.

Results will be posted at the event as well as on the website. Body marking will be available all morning. For timing purposes it is very important to have the back of your hand numbered.
Event Sanctioning Body
Our Open Water Swim Events are sanctioned by AZLMSC for US Masters Swimming only, our sanction number for this event is: 482-0005. Those swimmers 18 years of age and older. We will NOT be allowed to sanction the events with USA Triathlon for those Swimmers under the age of 18. TO BE CLEAR... Only 18 and older can swim in the OPEN WATER SWIM events sanctioned by US Masters Swimming this year. Sorry to all the folks under the age of 18... You will need to obtain a US Masters Swimming License or pay the one day membership fee ($15... goes to US Masters). Please visit MASTERS SWIMMING for membership information. No Exceptions. Directions from Phoenix
Take I-10 east to the Loop 202 freeway east. Exit Country Club (Highway 87) and go northeast to Bush Highway. Head about 4 miles to the Saguaro Lake Marina entrance. Follow the road to the left and look for the signs that say Keyhole Recreation Area.

Parking Will be at the WATER USERS PARKING AREA A FEW MILES AWAY. WE WILL SHUTTLE YOU TO Key Hole and the Marina. Participants are responsible for obtaining their own TONTO PASS for parking. TONTO PASSES ARE NOW AVAILABLE ONLINE
